FORMERLY MARRIED\/LIVED WITH A MAN: What was your last husband's\/partner's main income generating activity?","var_qstn_postqtxt":"na","var_qstn_ivulnstr":"First, check Q.801. If a woman is currently married or living with a man, select the CURRENTLY MARRIED\/LIVING WITH A MAN option and ask about the husband's\/partner's occupation. If she is not currently married but was formerly married or lived with a man, select the FORMERLY MARRIED\/LIVED WITH A MAN option and ask about the most recent (last) husband's\/partner's occupation. Examples of occupations are clerk, secretary, barber, taxi driver, nurse, teacher, lawyer, salesman, fisherman, rice farmer, carpenter, etc. We are not interested in the industry that he works in (e.g., agriculture, mining, or sales) or where he works (in a bank, a retail clothing store, or a government office), but we need to know what his job is.\n\n\n\nExample: If the respondent says her husband works in the Ministry of Planning, ask what he does there. Write the answer in the respondent's own words. If you are not sure how to write the occupation, it is better to give more detail than less.\n\n\n\n\u201cNot currently working\u201d is not an acceptable response. If he is unemployed, get a description of his most recent job. If he does more than one job, write down what he does most of the time. If he is not working because he is in school, write \u201cstudent.\u201d Use the code sheet to assign a code for the general industry in which the husband works.\n\n\n\nDefinitions of codes for occupations:\n\nEstablished own business- this refers to businesses with fixed premises where the individual runs the business from. This includes shopkeeper, kiosk owners, hotel\/eateries; salons etc. the business is owned by the respondent.\n\n\n\nUnestablished own business- refers to businesses with no fixed premises from where to operate. This category will include itinerant traders such as hawkers, roadside vegetable sellers etc.\n\n\n\nInformal casual- refers to individuals working in the informal sector on a casual basis and most likely are paid a daily wage. For example, someone works as a mason in a construction site.\n\n\n\nInformal salaried- this category includes those employed in the informal sector but have a salary at the end of the month. For example a house-help who is salaried will be coded under this category.\n\n \n\nFormal Salaried- this category includes people working in the formal sector who are salaried- for example teachers, nurses etc.\n\n\n\nFormal casual- refers to individuals who work in the formal sector but on a casual basis e.g. a packaging job in a flour mill which is done on a casual basis will be categorized here.\n\n\n\nUrban Agriculture- refers to any farming activities (either crop or animal farming and farming related activities such as tilling land, harvesting) done within an urban environment.
