The microdata portal is a web-based platform designed to publish metadata and documentation, and share qualitative and quantitative datasets from research studies that have been conducted by the Center since its inception in 2001. Visitors to the platform will therefore have access to information on all available datasets at APHRC, including description of the study design, sampling procedures, reference period for data collection, data dictionary, questionnaires or other study materials. Apart from data from a number of specific research studies, users will also have access to data from the Nairobi Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System (NUHDSS), a longitudinal platform that the Center has been running since 2002 in two informal settlements – Korogocho and Viwandani - in Nairobi city, Kenya. This platform which is regularly updated with new data sets, constitutes a valuable resource of population, education and health data from sub-Saharan Africa for researchers and other data users worldwide. APHRC wishes to acknowledge the funding for these studies and core support from the following donors:
