Interviewer instructions
This question refers to how the migrant left the origin household. In essence, the question here means “Did out-migrant LEAVE THE CURRENT HOUSEHOLD (A) Alone, (W) Whole household, or (P) with Part of the household”. If a migrant moved from the origin household alone and was later joined in by the rest of the household who was staying behind, the response to this question is “(A) Alone”.

Ask whether the out-migrant left alone, with the entire household, or whether he/she moved with only some members of the household and record the applicable code (A, W, or P) as indicated above.

Be cautious about migrants who were alone in their household and then moved away. The response to this question must be “(W) WHOLE HOUSEHOLD”, not “(A) ALONE” for such migrants. The option “(A) ALONE” is for migrants who were part of a household where they were not alone, and who moved out alone from the origin household.
