Interviewer instructions
Record how the person listed is related to the head of the household. Use the codes at the bottom of the page. If the respondent is not the head of the household, make sure that you record the relationship of each person to the household head, not the relationship to the respondent.

Example: You are assigned to James Kigomi's household and you find his wife Martha Mukio and she informs you that she lives with James, their daughter Gillian and Martha's brother Mark; you will list the individuals' relationship to head of household as shown in the table below:

If the head of the household is married to a woman who has a child from a previous marriage, that child's relationship to the head of the household should be coded as SON/DAUGHTER OF SPOUSE ONLY. Keep in mind that the question is asking about how the individual in a given line number is related to the head of household AND NOT how the head is related to the individual.
