Interviewer instructions
For all listed members, we record the ethnic group to which they belong. Note that this is one important variable as it explains unobserved cultural practices affecting various health outcomes. Also, it is important to be careful how we ask this question as it might bring resistance from some respondents scarred by ethnic violence over the years. Avoid using the ethnic group of the head as a generic group for all members of the household- it is possible he is married to a wife from a different group and is living with a niece who belongs to another group.
