Interviewer instructions
We want to know whether each of the tests listed was ever performed on the respondent during any of the antenatal checkups she had for the last pregnancy. It does not matter if they were performed only once or more than once, or performed in the same visit or spread over several visits. Ask about each test and record the response before asking about the next test. Blood pressure is measured with a medical instrument. A rubber cuff is wrapped around a person's upper arm and is inflated. While slowly releasing air from the cuff, the person measuring the blood pressure listens to the pulsing of the blood vessels with a stethoscope to determine the pressure.

A blood sample may be taken from the woman's fingertip or from a vein (usually from a vein near the elbow or on the wrist). The blood sample is used to test for various diseases, such as anemia, parasite infestations, or infectious diseases.
