"1.0. BACKGROUND INFORMATION, INTRODUCTION AND CONSENT 1.1 INTRODUCTION AND CONSENT Hello/Good morning/afternoon. My name is (NAME OF FIELD INTERVIEWER). I work with a research organization called HakiElimu. Frequently, we visit different local residents / villages in the country to talk to them about education. In this project HakiElimu is collaborating with the National Bureaus of Statistics and the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. APHRC, carries out research on education, health, population, maternal health, and aging which informs policy across sub-Saharan Africa, Tanzania included. At this time, we are visiting the residents of Dar es Salaam and Dodoma At this point we would like to know the state of education for people from 3 to 19 years of age. We would also like to talk you as the institutional head about the education of children in your school. The results of this study will be presented to the local community / village / village as well as to government and other organizations that are involved with educational matters. Government is important because it is responsible for policy / policy formulation in the education sector in the country. The answers you give me are confidential and will be used only in this study. Similarly, your answers will not cause you any trouble. You have the right to ask any questions / questions about this study or to refuse to answer any questions / questions you do not feel comfortable answering. Your contribution to this study is at your own discretion and there is no financial backing for you personally. If you let me, we'll start with a list of the names of your community and other people who live with you here. Our conversation will take about half an hour. 1.2 Would you like this school to participate in this research?"
