Interviewer instructions
We want to know whether the respondent had any pregnancies that did not result in a live birth, so we ask about each type of lost pregnancy. If a pregnancy ended early and involuntarily, it was a miscarriage. If a woman voluntarily ended a pregnancy, it was an abortion. If a woman gave birth to a child that showed no signs of life, it was a stillbirth. The following definitions hold:

· Miscarriage refers to spontaneous expulsion of fetus before 28 completed weeks of gestation.

· Abortion refers to any induced expulsion of fetus before week 28 of gestation.

Still birth refers to a baby who was born dead after 28 completed weeks of gestation.
