If the child had only a fever or a cough, read the question with the appropriate illness at the end of the sentence. If the child had both a fever and a cough, read the question as follows: “Did you seek advice or treatment for the fever and the cough?” Read the entire question before accepting a response. If a respondent says 'less', probe to determine if it was “much less” than usual or “somewhat less”.
